Hello Windham Families,
We have just over a month before athletics officially begin again at Windham Middle School! We want to make sure the students are prepared for the start of the season, as there are only a few days between the start of school and the first day of tryouts. Athletics are open to any Windham Middle School students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. During the fall we offer boys soccer, girls soccer, and co-ed cross-country. Important-
The fall season starts almost right away once we return from summer vacation. Please make every effort to register and get cleared by your physician before the school year starts. If you wait until school starts, there will not be any time to complete the process before tryouts begin.
Our school nurse MUST have a copy of your child's UP-TO-DATE physical (performed within the last year) before they will be able to participate. Physicals are valid for one year before they expire.
Just because you registered your cold, does not mean they are cleared to participate.
Please make sure to check your Arbiter Registration status 4-5 days after registering to make sure that your child is approved by the nurse. If your child is not approved, there could be a couple reasons why:
Your child’s physical is actually expired and they need a new one
Your child’s physical is up to date, but the nurse does not have a copy of it on file (they only receive updated physicals when students and families turn them in)
We often have a large number of students try out for soccer, so having those forms before the first day of school will ensure that they will be eligible to try out. Students will NOT be allowed to try out or participate without registering online and handing in an up-to-date physical exam from their physician.
Anticipated start date - All athletics will start on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd
Cross-country will hold their first practice.
Boys and girls soccer will hold tryouts Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
